Improving engagement with long-term financial goals through behaviour change [Read more]

fortune
fortune uses visual and psychological cues to provide users with feedback on their goal progress, encouraging them to interact with the device to meet their committed saving rates.

Visual feedback: high
If users aren't spending as much as usual, the goal section will rise. Pushing this back to the balanced position will set a higher saving rate for next week, prompting users to continually increase their savings.

Connected app
The fortune app suggests future savings goals based on the user's past financial behaviours and saving habits of other app users. Opportunities for further saving are also identified.

Visual feedback: low
The goal section drops if spending gets too high. Returning the product to a balanced position increases the user's saving rate for the rest of the week, so they can get back on track.

Mounting
fortune is mounted to the wall using a twist lock feature which secures the device to a slim mounting bracket, allowing for convenient hassle-free installation.

Privacy
A discrete button gives users the option to hide the information displayed on the device, temporarily turning it into a clock. Useful for when people have guests in their home.

Design week: Mini Mail
A week long project in response to a brief set by DCA about digital wellbeing. Research into the problem involved in-depth user interviews, affinity mapping and research into academic papers on productivity and the state of flow.

Mini Mail
