The product
A neck cooling device to provide comfort and relief to women experiencing a hot flush. The intensity of the cooling sensation can be adjusted via the controls on the side of the device. The design is intentionally bold and stylish in order to challenge the social stigma surrounding menopause.
The product family
A selection of colour options suitable for the intended environment of use, from professional to social environments.
Rapid prototyping and testing
Due to the Coronavirus outbreak and social distancing laws in place, testing prototypes on humans was not possible.
Therefore as a workaround, testing was undertaken on a female mannequin to highlight any ergonomic constraints and interaction points.
Portable surround sound system
Following a brief set by an external company to enhance an existing personal device or home appliance through modularity, I identified a gap in the market for a portable modular surround sound system. The system comprises four portable, rechargeable and stackable satellite speakers and subwoofer.

Aspiring Industrial Designer with an interest in practical and aesthetic solutions.
With the social taboo and lack of understanding about the menopause, and with few dedicated workplace policies in place, women struggle to manage their hot flushes in the workplace and can often feel embarrassed which in turn affects their professional working life.
My final year project seeks to break down the social stigma surrounding the menopause and offer women a stylish yet functional solution to their daily struggle when experiencing hot flushes.
