Welcome to Solo
Solo is a smart safety and security device, incorporating smoke detection, carbon monoxide detection, motion sensing and an integrated alarm system. The device provides the user with a reliable solution to safety and security concerns a small business or pop up business may face.
Product in context
Despite the severity major damage or theft can have on a small business, short term rental spaces don't often provide sufficient protection against these risks, leaving businesses vulnerable. Providing the user with a smart solution to safety and security, this device gives the consumer confidence and control over their assets.
Product in context
Solo is mounted to the ceiling or high up on a wall. The device slots into the back plate, with the external casing wrapping around the device and slotting into the mount. This external casing locks into position, reduces the risk of removal and tampering.
Design language
Solo has been designed to seamlessly fit into a variety of environments. Staff of the business are given a physical remote to arm and disarm the alarm system on opening and closing of the store, which can also be done via the staff portal on the Solo App. Featuring an adjustable camera lens, the device is suitable for regular changes in environment,
whilst enabling the user to position the camera as desired.

Solo app
With the integration of smart technology, real-time notifications and alerts are received via the Solo app in the case
of an emergency, enabling a prompt response by the user and reducing potential damage.
George Watts
I'm a motivated, ambitious Industrial Designer, passionate about striving for perfection. My work follows an iterative design process with a focus on creating beautiful products that solve real world problems.
I am a creative individual with a high level of motivation, focus and attention to detail. My design process begins by identifying real user problems through a range of primary and secondary research methods. This forms the foundations to a user focused design proposal, which allows me to create multiple concepts through an iterative sketching, modelling and testing process to produce a visually beautiful and innovative outcome. During my placement at Innovate Product Design, I learnt how to manage my own projects, working in a fast paced environment, both individually and within a team of designers from multiple disciplines. Being exposed to a wide variety of projects in industry gave me invaluable levels of experience, enhancing my skill set across manufacturing, visualisation and prototyping, that proved key in completing my final year at University. I have a keen eye for presentation, configuration and detail which allows me to excel in visualisation. Following graduation, I endeavor to continue developing as an industrial designer within a consultancy based environment, bringing new, innovative and meaningful solutions to life.

1 week work experience July 2015
Working within multiple departments including graphic design, film and film editing. I had the opportunity to shadow various designers who were working on live projects for global clients. I was given the opportunity to work on a live project for the week, attending both internal meetings, briefings, and also external meetings with clients. It was a great experience, opening my eyes to the world of design before starting University.
