Vocal performers often wish to restrict the level of sound they generate during practice. Being able to freely experiment and develop their abilities in private is essential to improving, yet this can be an uncomfortable experience with people nearby. Of course, this also creates a disturbance to their surroundings. By suppressing the sound, the issues facing both groups are reduced.

The headset fits around the ears without covering them, enabling compatibility with in-ear monitors. A mask hovers over the lower region of the user’s face while fixed to these ear features. To ensure a comfortable, secure and effective user experience, the device is fully adjustable, adapting to individual user dimensions.

Acoustic padding is contained within the mask in order to provide a passive sound reduction solution. This is coupled with active noise cancelling technology, implemented via a hybrid system that utilises both feedforward and feedback microphones, in order to generate the optimal anti-phase signal through the front speakers.

I have an obsession with overcoming design problems, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to exercise a wide breadth of skills. My aim is ironically to specialise in versatility, enabling me to adapt to our ever-changing society. Being able to emotionally invest in a project is vitally important for me, as this drive tends to draw out my creativity. Having a passion for music inspired my final year project, seeking to provide creators with increased freedom in which to thrive. Even if I struggle to relate to a task, the pursuit of enriching lives and pushing boundaries provides my inspiration.
