Ula
Ula is a menstrual cup disinfector, designed to tackle current issues and stigma surrounding the hygiene and convenience of cleaning menstrual cups, which generally leaves them disregarded as a menstrual product. Ultimately it reduces the risk users are currently unaware of with regards to Toxic Shock Syndrome.
Ula - portability
Designed to be portable, Ula empowers the user by allowing more frequent removal of the cup with no reliance on cleaning amenities, for safe period management.
Ula - technology
UV-C light is used to break down harmful bacteria and kill it, providing a 99.99% level of disinfection.
Ula - safety
The internal chamber triggers a safety switch when the lid is opened to ensure the user is never exposed to any harmful UV-C radiation.
Ula - ease of use
Ula is designed for one handed operation to ensure ease of use, and minimise germs and contamination.
Nudge - live project
Nudge is a subscription product designed to bridge the gap between digital dating habits and real interpersonal dating, ultimately reducing the time users spend on their devices.
Nudge - app
Nudge works in conjunction with an app, which is used to log preferences and facilitate identifying the match when meeting. User profiles are no longer visible to others removing the ability to “play the game”.
Alexandra Dodl
I am a motivated and forward-thinking designer, passionate about delivering solutions with a meaningful impact.
I strive to become a designer working on projects that have a positive impact on real-world problems. My design process always begins with identifying the need for an improved or entirely new solution. Therefore, my best work stems from projects with a user and research-focused approach, allowing me to identify key insights and opportunities to innovate.
I always enjoy being challenged throughout the design process. I am therefore hugely appreciative of the opportunity Loughborough Design School has provided, giving me a platform to test myself as a designer, and encouraging me to avoid the obvious or easy approach. Through this way of learning, I have developed a more well-rounded skill set. I am able to appreciate all elements of design and know when to seek support.
During my placement I was immersed in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, working for a leading supplier of added value brands and customer branded foods to the Irish and UK FMCG markets. This opportunity allowed me to utilise and develop the skills I had already learned, while also adding an array of additional skills, transferable to a number of design applications.
Now, I want to improve further as a designer in a fun, engaging and creative environment that will support and encourage me on my journey to becoming the best I can be. I am excited for what's next!
