Cortex case & inhaler
The inhaler is stored in the Limit Case between uses. This adds intentional friction by requiring users to unlock the case via the app, which increases in difficulty and offers distractions.
Cortex inhaler and pod magazine integration
The inhaler system weans users off nicotine over 12 weeks by gradually reducing the concentration of nicotine doses. Pods are NFC authenticated by the inhaler, preventing incorrect dosages.
Cortex project prototyping
The app tracks the user’s device habits to calculate specific dosage profiles. These inform personalised weekly deliveries of pod magazines, allowing a gradual reduction in nicotine intake.
Cortex project ideation sketches
The Limit Case houses a magazine of auto-feeding Nicotine pods, enabling convenient, one handed loading. Magazines can be easily changed by the user, creating an elegant, portable solution.
Will Downard
I have designed a pulmonary Nicotine replacement system enabling easier cessation for smokers
Traditional nicotine replacement therapies and e-cigarettes fail to create nicotine hits as pleasing to the brain as tobacco, causing users to struggle with quitting. The inhaler system uses nicotine pods, that when pressurised, atomise the solution to the perfect molecular size for pulmonary inhalation, replicating the hit of smoking. This allows an easier transition off tobacco, enabling the user’s nicotine consumption to be reduced over time.
