My final year project investigates the potential ways to improve the process of applying eye drops.
Studying Product Design Technology at Loughborough University has given me the opportunity to develop and enhance a variety of key skills including CAD, sketching, prototyping and electro-mechanical design. I have learnt about all aspects of design from initial concepts through to manufacturing, and now feel prepared to join an important and exciting industry. I completed a successful placement year within a manufacturing company in Birmingham, where I had the chance to experience all aspects of the business. This helped me to develop myself both in a professional environment and as a product designer. Over time I have come to realise that my passion and main strength lies in CAD, and graphic design is what drives my career goals.

Experience
I worked initially in a local cycle shop before moving on to work for one of the East of England's leading bike retailers for 2 years in customer service and sales. These roles taught me about the importance of meeting customer needs as well as leadership skills; I was asked to lead on rides. I also gained an interest in the design and production of bikes and how manufacturers are able to differentiate their product in a very competitive market. I also took an interest in the increasing range of accessories and technologies that were becoming available, especially those that focused on safety and efficiency gains.
For my work experience I was able to secure a placement with a construction company - Lindum, giving me an invaluable insight into the corporate world. Challenges: learning quickly and meeting customer needs. Skills developed: creativity, listening, adapting and working in a team.
