Artificial intelligence in craft breweries
This research project aimed to investigate whether UK craft brewers were willing to engage with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and determine if the introduction of AI would change consumers’ perception of the UK craft brewing industry. Numerous research methods were conducted to gain a wide range of insights and opinions of both brewers and consumers, understanding their stance on the current craft brewing industry, how it may change in the future and what the possible limitations are.
Fermentation cleaning device for home-brewers
Cleaning and sanitising are one of the most important steps in the brewing process, if done incorrectly it can contaminate batches and spoil beer. A fermentation vessel cleaning device was designed for home-brewers using commercial brewing methods clean in place (CiP) to reduce the users contact with harmful chemicals and water waste. The device also allowed users to check equipment sanitation levels after cleaning.
SAMMIE evaluation of car design
An ergonomic analysis was done using SAMMIECAD of an existing car. Recommendations were given allowing for a wider user population to drive it safely, effectively & comfortably.
ZERO smart city app
ZERO is a smart city app for supermarkets of the future. To help environmentally conscious, busy students & professionals take control & enhance their food shop experience.
Arielle Vriesekoop-Beswick
As an inquisitive person I have a lot of curiosity especially when it comes to new design innovations and how people behave and use products or services.
My Design Ergonomics course has allowed me to develop design proficiencies coupled with ergonomic and user centred design aspects. While on placement at Siemens I worked on various projects ranging from retro-fitments with specific users to level crossing protection systems with its users including the general public and maintenance workers. During my placement year I worked with a team of human factors specialists, engineers, project managers and bids teams, while also interacting with clients and subcontractors. I enjoy user experience design; making products, services and systems easy, efficient and inclusive for everyone; understanding the variety of possible users.
